The band comes from Überlingen on Lake Constance and was founded in 1975. The current formation has been in existence since 1990 and consists of six musicians. Musically, the members prefer lively Dixieland and proven swing titles, but they also play standards of traditional New Orleans jazz. This mixture has proven itself in numerous previous performances, as the repertoire includes both "catchy" tunes with high recognition value for the broad audience and demanding jazz standards for the discerning jazz fan.

In addition to countless performances in the Lake Constance region and throughout southern Germany, the JAILHOUSE JAZZMEN can also boast a number of performances in Switzerland and Austria as well as concerts in Berlin, France, and various Baltic Sea resorts. Tours to the USA (New Orleans / Washington) and Africa (Namibia) are among the highlights of the band's history.
